Goff finished well in 2022 and is a sleeper for 2023. If Jared Goff falters in 2023, he could get a chance. Hendon Hooker (2.04) fell further than expected, primarily due to age, and he will sit for at least a year. Brown is a three-down capable player with one-cut ability and plus-level hands. Chase Brown is a sneaky-good selection behind embattled back Joe Mixon. Spears has a clear path to the starting role, and Derrick Henry is no lock to remain on the roster for all of 2023. Some believe he’s a one-contract player in the NFL -still draftable as most running backs do not sign a second contract with the teams that drafted them. Miller is a two-down back primarily and Spears could be a first-round talent if not for medical flags dealing with his lack of ACL and arthritis component. Spears and Miller are climbing from here. The running backs of Kendre Miller (2.05), Tyjae Spears (2.11) and Chase Brown (2.12) are closely grouped. Mims at 2.03 is hard for me to rank, but he profiles similarly to Tyler Lockett, which could pay dividends in that offense. Sam LaPorta (2.07) could be the top player here with Detroit possessing a very friendly scheme for tight ends. Mayer is falling in dynasty drafts as I write this and you may be able to select him in the middle of the second round, rather than as seen here at 2.01. In fact, I still believe Michael Mayer presents a better value with a slightly better opportunity. I’m not ready to anoint Dalton Kincaid the next big name. It’s a development I have not seen in all my years of rookie analysis.Īt 2.01 and 2.02, take your pick of tight ends. I can make a case for any of these players to be at the top or the bottom of this round.

Here we see a full round of players exemplifying what I was said earlier about the wide band of value in this class without clear separation. If you’re drafting Charbonnet, you’re going to need to be patient.Ĭlearly, the wheelhouse of this draft is through selection 1.09. Achane starts somewhat buried on the depth chart in Miami but should see touches out of the gate. Closing out Round 1, Devon Achane leapfrogs Zach Charbonnet, who torpedoes Ken Walker’s carry-the-load status in Seattle. Lower draft capital makes for an easier selection. Will Levis is your QB4 consolation prize if you need help at the position. All three of these receivers are very close in value/rank. That said, he profiles differently than others and could break the recent mold. I have Flowers ranked highest of the three, but I’m least impressed with his situation in BAL, where receivers go to die. Pick your poison at 1.07 – 1.09 from the trio of receivers. This creates solid value for managers at 1.05 and 1.06 who should have a chance at Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Jahmyr Gibbs.
